Salem Witch Trails

The Salem Witch Trials of 1692 and 1693 were a series of trails on women who were accused of witchcraft. These trials began in February of 1962. Consequently, women were hung, or drowned. Some would get trails and some would be hung immediately. For example, this one man was crushed with rocks because he would not confess what he was doing with witchcraft. There were more than 200 people accused of witchcraft. Only 20 were executed and 5 died in jail.

These trials began when Reverend Samuel Paris daughter, Betty, got sick. The doctor examined her and found no medical reason as to why she would be sick like that. This being the case, they thought it was witchcraft. On the other had she was showing symptoms of other things such as: stress, asthma, guilt, boredom, child abuse, epilepsy, and delusional psychosis (not being able to tell the difference between real and imagined).

Meanwhile, in England, this was viewed as a felon and was punishable by hanging to death. With England being a religious country, it was also known as consorting with the devil.
